The emphasis is placed on hearing and reading competence, on dialogs and vocabulary, as well as on grammar. Themes coming from daily life, work, leisure, and travel play an important role. The supporting CDs allow the students to get accustomed with the spoken language at its natural speed. Apart from teaching the students a live language, the lecturer supplies country-specific information about Romania, by employing real materials (such as ads, travel plans, and flyers), as well as authentic pieces of reading (newspaper articles, short stories, or poems). The course provides a gradual introduction to the main grammatic structures of the language. At the end of the course, the students are in command of a solid basic vocabulary and the main grammatic constructions of the Romanian language.
