Description: PfeP-PRO is a world-wide used database system for planning and controlling the usage of parts during the process of building automobiles. The application is used in most of the plants of the client automotive company by several hundred users.

The goal of this project is to implement enhancements to the system, according to user specifications, as well as to achieve optimizations on process and on database level.

Own tasks:
  • Implementation of the enhancements on the PFEP-PRO database according to the customer's specifications
  • Review of the change requests together with the US and European customers
  • Optimization and performance tuning on database level
  • Parallelizing on coarse (logical) and fine (statement) levels
  • Writing software and test concept papers
  • Structuring the database
  • Cross-application unification of the entire applications portfolio of the Department regarding basic database aspects (user, schemas, tablespaces, privileges, roles), backup and recovery, etc.
  • Porting the client/server archtecture to a 3-tier architecture using web services as middle tier
