Description: |
IMCS is an important program for the department Incoming Material Logistics. It allows carriers
to plan their trips, to input data, and to generate invoices. The program is subject to the S-Ox
regulations and belongs to the highest requirements class regarding data integrity.
The goal of this project is to upgrade and standardize the application - relative to the
technologies it uses - as well as to consolidate it from the point of view of data and
program quality.
In the first subproject, the Carrier Application - a data input tool installed at the carriers'
sites, which can be used both connected to the main database and in stand-alone mode - is migrated
from MS-Access and Visual Basic to Java, Derby, and Swing.
Subproject 2 comprises the creation of a data model for IMCS, cleansing the production data, and
structuring and consolidating the database (by removing unused tables and fields, creating
constraints, defining new tables, etc.). This phase is a prerequisite for future enhancements
of the system, as well as for subproject 3.
The third subproject encompasses re-writing in Java and PL/SQL the modules written in the
outdated technology Cool:Gen, as well as optimizing the code.
